I am a big supporter of the South Carolina Aquarium and turtle hospital. My son and I are members and visit each week. The turtles hold a very special place in our hearts. They are vital for healthy oceans and seas and living on an island, we are keenly aware of the importance of keeping our aquatic environment well and thriving. I worked with three other women on the Isle of Palms to discontinue the use of single use plastic bags at checkout and in restaurants. These flimsy bags that are not recycleable, despite what the plastic industry wants the populous to believe, are mistaken as jellyfish by sea turtles and eaten. I have created this painting for an important even to support the Aquarium's Turtle Team and Turtle Hospital. The work they do is critical to the survival and health of our sea turtles. The even will take place on September 23 at 7 pm at the Windjammer on the Isle of Palms. Please attend!
